3 dangerous items to keep away from your car in the summer

Aug 17, 2018

Some worst things people keep in their cars!

In the summer, parking your car in direct sunlight over a long period of time can raise the interior temperature of a car to a dangerous level. In rare occasions, high temperature can make some sensitive items to explode and leave behind particles or burning holes. In extreme cases, if there are enough items with flammable liquid, the flame can burn down the whole car!

According to scientific studies, when the outside temperature reaches 35o Celsius, the temperature inside a typical car without an air conditioner running could reach 50o Celsius in as little as 20 minutes and even 65,5o Celsius if they're left under the sun for 40 minutes.

This is extremely dangerous as the heat accumulated from the sun's radiation can cause explosions and deformation inside the car.

That said, below are the most dangerous items when placed inside a car on a hot summer day:

1. Fire extinguisher bottle

When a legislature's bill about the compulsoriness of a fire extinguisher inside any vehicles with enclosed space was enacted, many drivers showed great concern. Because there were many incidents in the past where fire extinguishers exploded and severely damaged their cars. Some of them were not reimbursed by the insurance companies.

2. Lighters

They are filled with flammable liquid and can be highly sensitive when exposed under sunlight for too long. They can explode and cause damage to your car.

Lighter

Lighters are highly inflammable

When the interior temperature reaches 60c Celsius, all types of batteries, spray bottles become extremely sensitive and even explosive. Cosmetics and batteries can be melted. Nail polish solution could be flammable.

3. Bottles with liquid inside

Especially carbonated drinks, bottles with high pressure inside, high temperature can also cause these items to explode.

The best and safest way to use your car during the burning hot weather of summer is to always park your baby under in the shade or always load your car with car covers.

Car owners should make a list of absolute essential things to bring with them in cars and get rid of everything else. If they must bring water bottles or any sort of liquid container, leave the bottle cap open or loosen it beforehand.

Carbonated drinks are always NOT welcomed since they're one of the most dangerous items to keep inside cars.
