1. Toyota

Topping the best-selling car brand is Toyota, the largest automobile manufacturer from Japan. This is known for producing the bestselling car brands Toyota Innova and Toyota Vios. In the Philippines, Toyota Motor Philippine Corporation or simply TMP is also the largest manufacturer with 21 car models and 63 dealers nationwide including Lexus Manila Incorporated which serves as sales and also service centers.TMP also has the capability to annually produce 51,000 units. T

his particular car brand was able to sell 182,657 commercial and passenger units for the year 2017. More than 100,000 margins compared to the 75,161 units sold for the year 2013. With that being said, Toyota achieved 15.60% growth and was able to contribute a 38.54% market share in 2017.

2. Mitsubishi

Another Japanese automaker that produces best selling cars is Mitsubishi. Mitsubishi Motors manufactures and incorporates by these two main concepts "driving pleasure and safety". This brand produces automobiles that give satisfaction at the same time ensures the safety of the car users.

It also stands for its three main principles; the Shoki Hoko which means corporate responsibility to society, Shoji Komei that means integrity and fairness and lastly Kitsugyo Boeki which means international understanding through trade.

When it comes to sales, Mitsubishi follows the leading manufacturer with 71,001 sold units in the year 2017 making the widest gap increase of the brand record sale in 5 years with almost 250%. In 2017, Mitsubishi acquired 19.37% growth and 14.98% market share. This brand opened a new plant located in Sta. Rosa Laguna with a vast expanse of land measuring 21 hectares.

3. Hyundai

Placing in the3rd rank as one of the best-selling car brands in the country is Hyundai. This brand is manufactured by South Korean automakers. Did you know that Hyundai means "modernity"?  Yes. That's right. Modernity is Hyundai in the Korean language. It was founded way back on December 29, 1967.

With a total of 37, 678 sold units in 2017, acquiring 11.82% growth and contributing 7.95% in the market share Hyundai landed at 3rd place with a 1,055 difference from its very tight competitor that is currently in the fourth rank which is the Ford motors.

Hyundai already has 7 overseas manufacturing plants located in the US, Brazil, China, India, the Czech Republic, Turkey, and Russia.

4. Ford

Landing in the 4th rank is an American manufacturer, Ford. The company is based on Michigan and was founded in the year 1901 by Henry Ford in which the brand name was derived. Ford was established in the Philippines in July 2000. Ford cars sold in the Philippines were from the manufacturing plants of Thailand and North America.

In 2017, Ford was able to sell 36,623 units making it the fourth best selling cars in the country. Acquiring 8.71% growth and partaking 7.73% market shares. Some of the well-known ford models are the Ford Fiesta, Ford Eco Sport, Ford Mustang, Ford Escape, Ford Everest, Ford Ranger, Ford Explorer, and Ford Expedition.

5. Honda

Making its way to the 5th place after overtaking Isuzu in 2017 is none other than Honda. Being able to sell 31,758 units and acquiring one of the highest growth percentages in the year 2017 with 36.89%, Honda lands in 5th rank and contributing 6.77% in market shares.

Ever wonder where Honda got its brand name? It was derived from the Japanese driver Soichiro Honda who also happens to beam engineer. Soichiro Honda founded the company in the year 1946. The Honda brand's official slogan is “The power of dreams".

6. Isuzu

With a total of 30,086 units sold, Isuzu ranks 6th in our top 10 bestselling car brands. Isuzu was consistently enjoying its 5th rank for 3 years (from 2014 to 2016) until Honda surpasses their number of sold units in 2017 with only 1,672 difference. This brand acquired 9.96% growth and 6.35% market share in that same year.

7. Nissan

Another Japanese Manufactured Brand makes its way to the Top 10. A total of 24,995 units sold in 2017, Nissan remained on its place and consistently ranking 7th for 3 years. Nissan also has the highest growth percentage at 47.93%.

Well, that's not a surprise; knowing 5 years ago, this brand was not even in the top 10. It ranked 9th for the year 2014 and stayed in the 7th place the year after and up to 2017. Within that 5 year period, the total sales of this brand increased dramatically with over 120%.

Nissan is recognized as the manufacturer comfortable, excellent quality, reliable at the same time providing an agreeable service cost.  Some of the brand's famous models are the Nissan Terra, Nissan Navara, Nissan Almera, Nissan GT-R and many more.

8. Suzuki

Placing in the 8th rank is another Japanese automaker brand, Suzuki. In 2013, this brand rank 9, and 10th in the year 2014. It placed in the 8th place in 2015 up to 2017. Suzuki tripled the number of their sold units compared to the sales in 2013 resulting for a wide gap to its tight competitors with for over 14,000 units.

Suzuki is well known as a Japanese Manufacturer of the high quality of cars and motorcycle models with Michio Suzuki as its founder in 1909 and his last name as the origin of the brand's name. Suzuki produces more than 25 car models some of which are the Suzuki Jimny, Splash, Swift, and Ertiga etc.

9. Mazda

Last on the list is also a Japan manufactured brand, the Mazda. This brand sold 5,247 units in 2017, very little difference with the 9th rank and its closest competitor, the Chevrolet. Mazda's 2017 growth is 28.29% with a market share of 1.11%. This brand was founded in Hiroshima Japan. Its brand name's origin was said to be derived from the God of Life in Zoroastrian, Ahura Mazda. Wow! Some deep derived name. Isn't it?

Well, Mazda also produces well-known car models such as the Mazda MX-5 Miata, Mazda CX-3, Mazda 3 and Mazda 6.
