The humble beginnings of BMW date back to the year 1916. At that time, the company was focused on manufacturing aircraft engines. The company ventured into making automobiles in the year 1928.

The very first vehicle that they sold was the BMW 3/15. This was a rebadged Dixi. When the 1930s rolled in, BMW decided they’ll kick in with the luxury and sports car industry. Since then, the company has built its name on innovative and dependable vehicles. The BMW X3 is just one proof of the incredible line of vehicles that they can offer to the public.

Over the years, the BMW sedans have lost their dual-personality demeanor that left drivers and enthusiasts alike breathless. This personality made the sedans both luxurious to own and fun to drive.

But the good news is that there is one sedan in which a grain of the magic still lives. It looks like BMW still fancy to tell their iconic design to live on in their latest 2020 model of the BMW X3. Prices and Variants

Here are the supposed variants that the BMW X3 2020 will be available in:

  • X3 M40i is available for $56,895
  • X3 xDrive30i is priced at $44,945
  • XS sDrive30i comes with a beaming $42,945 price tag

Regardless of the accurate power output, all of BMW vehicle’s engines showcase a similar refined and strong character. The M40i variant comes with a 335 horsepower and six-cylinder engine.

This can churn out an estimated 100 kilometers in just 4.4 seconds. That is already a crazy high number. It’s suggestible that for regular road drivers in the Philippines, one should opt for the 248 horsepower engine with four cylinders. This is also powerful but not as much as the former.

Its turbocharged four-cylinder engine assists the eight-speed automatic to make light sips through traffic and easy passes while on the highway. The X3 sDrive30i, on the other hand, only drives on its rear wheels.

But if you don’t plan to take your BMW on mushy roads and muddy areas, that’s going to be just fine. If not, you can always upgrade to a more powerful model. For this purpose, we suggest the xDrive30i.

Performance, Transmission, and Engine

The all-wheel-drive xDrive30i and the rear-wheel-drive sDrive30i are both equipped with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 2.0-liter capacity and 248 horsepower. It has enough power to negotiate with almost any traffic scenario out there in the most comfortable manner for the driver.

Yes, we’re referring to Metro Manila traffic as well. On a different test track, the xDrive 30i may require 6.2 seconds to reach the speed of 100 kilometers per hour. Those who seek a more performance-oriented crossover will undoubtedly realize that the X3 M40i fits their taste more. The 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine has a capacity of 355 horsepower.

This can provide brute-like power out -accelerating almost every vehicle out there except the Mercedes-AMG GLC43. The latter has a record of zero to 100 kilometers per hour in just 4.4 seconds. But a plug-in hybrid with a capacity of up to 49 kilometers electric driving range is soon to join the lineup.

The X3, however, still performs in a more competent manner when compared to some of the company’s current sedans. It’s fun to drive and curves around corners better than most people would have expected. The drag is that it doesn’t offer competitive Macan levels when it comes to athleticism. But the ride quality is still balanced and has the right amount of firmness for added feel.

All this is made possible without resulting in a terribly rough ride when driving over bumpy surfaces. xDRive30i models in the Philippines may also come with adaptive suspension.

This is a highly recommended feature. It adds Sport, Eco Pro and Comfort driving modes to your xDrive30i. If the adaptive suspensions are applied to the M40i, expect that the chassis is lowered by 0.4 inches.

Cargo, Comfort, and Interior of the BMW X3

The stylish interior of the BMW X3 is well-equipped even before you fill that single option box. There are power-adjustable front seats that can be adjusted in ten ways. This includes side bolsters that are also adjustable so you can find the most comfortable sitting position.

For the rear seat, there are reclining seats for the ultimate riding experience. It also has cushioning on all of the seats for comfort even after long hours of driving. The rest of the cabin is lavish and is put together in a well-thought-out manner. The materials were picked out well and there are also tight panel gaps.

Glossy woodgrain trims carry the look of authenticity despite made of plastic. There are also faux-leather stitched onto the dash and the door coverings. This adds an extra touch of luxury that can’t be denied. To finish it off, there’s also the nickel-finish metal trim.
