Subaru Legacy 2020 first time caught road-testing in Detroit

Jul 04, 2018

Cylinder deactivation and lean-burn technology are due to come in the new model.

One year is enough to test their fans’ patience; Subaru is now ready to introduce their next-gen Subaru Legacy 2020 after the facelift version of the existing Subaru Legacy showed its face last year. Lately, the model was spotted on taking road tests in the city of Detroit, the U.S.

This supposed-to-be-out-in-2020 model taking the new Subaru Gobal Platform, is believed to attain the 2.5L direct-injection petrol powertrain that debuted in the Subaru Forester of 2019 this March. While another speculation indicates a 2L turbocharged petrol 4, instead, will replace the current 3.6L naturally-aspirated 6-cylinder boxer. To be more specific, the 2.5L mill churns out 239 Nm and 182 HP in the Subaru Forester 2019.

What’s more to expect from the Subaru Legacy 2020, cylinder deactivation and lean-burn technology are due to come in the model. And, there are high hopes the Japanese carmaker remain its AWD powertrain layout and CVT transmission. However, it keeps obscure if the Legacy will come with the Active Torque Vectoring system seen in the Subaru WRX STI as well as WRX.

Nothing sure about the equipment should be claimed yet but it is safe to say that the Subaru Legacy 2020 will be granted with most of the company’s latest innovations which may be Lead Vehicle Start Alert, Pre-Collision Throttle Management, and Lane Keep Assist.
